Rep. Grace Meng (D-NY) destroys anti-Asian bigot at congressional hearing

Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) used a hate crimes hearing, held in the aftermath of 6 Asian-American women being brutally murdered in Atlanta, to joke about lynching & then slur Chinese-Americans.

US Rep. Grace Meng (D-NY) did something amazing. She stood up to a racist member of Congress who dared use a hearing on anti-Asian hate crimes to launch a bigoted attack on Asian-Americans.

Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) somehow thought it appropriate to use a hate crimes hearing, held in the aftermath of six Asian women being brutally murdered in Atlanta, to joke about lynching:

Rep. Chip Roy offers this at hearing on anti-Asian hate. "We believe in justice, and there's old sayings in Texas about, you know, find all the rope in Texas and get a taller tree."

Roy then went on a racist tirade about China, suggesting that it was Orwellian to be concerned about the horrific rise in anti-Asian hate crimes over the past year:

Rep. Chip Roy uses opening statement to make red herring argument that he fears critiquing China's Communist Party leadership will be off limits due to "thought police" monitoring anti-Asian sentiment in U.S. He refers several times to "Chi-Coms" in criticizing CCP.

Grace Meng just rips Roy. "Your president, and your party, and your colleagues can talk about issues with any other country that you want. But you don't have to do it by putting a bull's eye on the back of Asian Americans across this country, on our grandparents, on our kids."
