Are you a good Republican or not?
A Republican emailed me, angry that I called out the GOP for their ongoing embrace of the Insurrection. Here's his email, and my reply.
I got an email from someone who was upset that I called out Republicans for their embrace of the Insurrection during one of my daily TikTok LIVE discussions. Here’s his email, and my response:
I used to enjoy your live videos of Ukraine news until they just became Republican bashing. Democrats like you who lump all Republicans into one group is why I don't like the Democrats. A bunch of elitist snobs. Watch this video and tell Democrats don't call for violence. Your comments this Monday was ignorant and sounded like a child. Democrats are VERY far from perfect!!
Below is the video he sent me:
And here is my response:
A few things.
First, there's no way to cover the news without speaking about the Insurrection, and the ongoing attempt to steal the next election. It poses an existential threat to our democracy. As someone who loves this country, I have no choice but to speak out.
Second, I never said all Republicans were bad. In fact, tonight I specifically said the bad ones were running the GOP, and that the remaining good ones had better speak up fast, or we're going to lose this country. So that completely negates what you accuse me of saying.
Third. Did you actually watch that video? Just the Kamala Harris portion alone is bizarre. They quote her repeatedly saying "we are in a fight." How exactly is that a call for violence? But most important, your president, the guy I'm guessing you voted for -- because you're clearly defending him -- incited a violent mob to overrun the US Capitol in an attempted coup. A confidential informant from the Proud Boys told the FBI that the group had plans to kill Pence and Pelosi that day. How are you defending this? By showing me a video of Maxine Waters being stupid? Maxine Waters isn't president. And she didn't cause a violent insurrection. Nor is she defending the insurrection after the fact — which Trump, and most of your party, is now doing.
Hell, most of your party believes that Donald Trump actually won the election. Do you not see the danger our democracy is in, while you attempt to both-sides this with a poorly done video by Newsmax?
The guy with the gun who went after Kavanaugh should spend his life in prison. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris surely won't defend the gunman. Now get Donald Trump, and most of your party, to say the same about the Insurrectionists? You can't. Our fringes are at the fringe of our party. Your fringes run your party. And your fringes tried to violently overthrow our government. And there's just no nice way to put that, in order to assuage your feelings. There's a cancer in your party. And I suspect you may even know it, but, like many Republicans, you feel the need to defend, rather than admit.
I wish you'd think more about our country and where Trump is taking us. Because if he succeeds -- or loses again, and calls out the dogs -- there's going to be violence in this country like we've never seen. And if you think that's a good thing, then you're not one of the good Republicans.
So are you one of the good ones, or not?

Agreed. That video is so lame it's hardly worth taking down. Anyone who pretends it makes a valid point is either stupid or disingenuous. Thank God that man who went to kill Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh didn't succeed. But I was amused by a NYT satire that "both sides" every issue by saying both parties have a problem with gun violence: the Dems have a guy who turned himself into the police before causing any harm , saying he needed help...and the Republicans had the bastard who shot up the school in Uvalde and the other bastard who targeted black people in a grocery story. Both sides indeed. By the way, here in Alabama almost every ad by Republican candidates include weapons of war, from Gov. Ivey showing the adorable gun she keeps in her purse to a judge (a judge!) blasting away at a target with a gun worthy of the Terminator. Scary.
There are indeed “two sides”, but only one side started a riot at the Capitol.
